Galway Film Fleadh have announced ten nominees for the 2023 Bingham Ray New Talent Award. The award is given to nominees shortlisted for their exceptional work in the fields of Directing, Acting and Producing. 

The Bingham Ray New Talent Award, named after the revered American independent film executive, pays homage to his profound contributions and enduring legacy. Bingham Ray, a beloved figure in the film industry during his tenure at October Films, United Artists, and Sidney Kimmel, was a regular presence at the Galway Film Fleadh. Known for his unwavering commitment to mentoring filmmakers, he generously shared his wisdom, provided guidance, and encouraged aspiring talents. The Irish film community has greatly benefited from Bingham’s vast knowledge spanning every aspect of the film industry, and the enduring friendships he fostered are a testament to his generosity. 

 Last year, the Bingham Ray New Talent Award was awarded to Éanna Hardwicke and Danielle Galligan for their performances in the film Lakelands. This year, the Galway Film Fleadh proudly presents the ten nominees who have made an indelible mark in their respective fields.  

The Nominees for 2023 are: 

  • Daniel Ryan – Actor – Misread 
  • Hannah Mamalis – Actor/Creator/Director – Baby Steps 

 

The winner of the 2023 Bingham Ray New Talent Award will be announced at the Closing Night Awards Ceremony of the 35th Galway Film Fleadh at 6pm on Sunday July 16th.
