Galway Film Fleadh announce Farah Nabulsi as a guest speaker for Facing In/Facing Out: A Development Workshop for Screenwriters created in collaboration with Stowe Story Labs. 30 emerging screenwriters and filmmakers will be selected to participate in this workshop to enhance their skills and generate ideas for developing a narrative feature film.
Farah Nabulsi is a Palestinian British Oscar nominated and BAFTA award-winning filmmaker and human rights advocate. She began work as a writer and producer of short films, including her directorial debut, The Present, which premiered at Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival 2020 and won the coveted Audience Award for Best Film. It went on to win over 50 International Film Festival Jury and Audience Awards, a BAFTA Award, and an Oscar nomination.
THE TEACHER, Nabulsi’s directorial feature debut, stars Palestinian actor Saleh Bakri and British actress Imogen Poots. The film follows a Palestinian schoolteacher who struggles to reconcile his risky commitment to political resistance with the chance of a new relationship with volunteer-worker Lisa, and his role as a father figure to one of his students, Adam. THE TEACHER will have its Irish Premiere as part of Country of Focus: Palestine at the Galway Film Fleadh on Thursday, July 11 at 7:00pm in Town Hall Theatre. Book tickets for THE TEACHER HERE
In Conversation with Farah Nabulsi will take place at the workshop where Farah will discuss her journey to becoming an established filmmaker and share insights into her career. This session will be facilitated by David Rocchio at the Galway Film Fair in July.
