IRISH TALENT: NEW SHORTS 2: DOCUMENTARIES

This year, the Galway Film Fleadh has the pleasure to present two programmes of Irish short documentaries. This first compilation includes works from established and emerging directors, highlighting the best talent from across the Island of Ireland.

The Buildings

Featuring personal stories from the filmmaker’s father and uncle, who worked on building sites in England in the 1960s and ‘70s. Made as part of the Make Film History project.

Movers and Shapers

Surfers love the ocean. This documentary meets the Irish surfers and shapers using everything from wine corks to wood as they try to find innovative ways to make their surfboards more sustainable.

The Coco Show

In his final work – a puppet play – Irish literary heavyweight George Bernard Shaw slugs it out with Shakespeare to decide who is the greatest writer. Cheeky, funny and furiously quick-witted.

Jordan-Lee Brady-James aka HYFIN, a young Derry-Londonderry man in-between places, is told that a Northern Irish accent can’t rap.

Knockser

Knockser centres on the journey of Bohemian FC amputee squad player Donal Bligh. The short film is a reminder of the positive impact football can have and how it connects people in unexpected ways.
