X-Pollinator is an initiative to help address gender diversity in the Irish screen industry. As part of the CREATOR programme, X-Pollinator is thrilled to host a panel at Galway Film Fleadh with one of Ireland’s most exciting female led production companies, Invisible Thread. After recently being selected for the Netflix Documentary Talent Fund and the release of their IFTA nominated Reel Art documentary HOW TO TELL A SECRET – we will sit down with producer Zlata Filipović and director Anna Rodgers for a discussion on how they got started, what challenges and successes they have faced, how they select and fund projects on their slate, and what opportunities there are for film production from Europe. The panel will be moderated by Niamh Fagan – Screen Ireland, Project Manager.

Invisible Thread is an award-winning production company based in Dublin with an IFTA and Emmy award winning producer and director at the helm. With over twenty years’ experience in the film and TV industry, they have honed their craft of delivering compelling, authentic and visually engaging stories. From making award winning documentaries to short films and music videos, corporates and campaign videos, they have produced a diverse slate of creative content for television, cinema and the web. Their highly original digital campaigns which have gone viral with over two million views and been shared by celebrities from Stephen Fry to John Oliver.

Their productions have won international multiple awards and been selected for major festivals like Tribeca or Hot Docs, most recently with their feature documentary HOW TO

TELL A SECRET, about contemporary stories of people living with HIV today. Other notable documentaries include THE STORY OF YES, about the marriage equality referendum, HOLD ON TIGHT, about LGBTQ+ public displays of affection, and WHEN WOMEN WON, about the campaign to repeal the 8th amendment.

Invisible Thread is currently developing a feature documentary titled THE LAST BALKAN COWBOY, directed by artist Dragana Jurišić. They are also the current recipients of the Netflix Documentary Talent Fund and are in production with a film called TWO MOTHERS.
