Applications Open for 2025 GENERATION Council

We are now inviting applications for the 2025 GENERATION Council, a unique opportunity for young people to actively shape the youth branch of the Galway Film Fleadh for people aged 12 – 24. The 2025 festival, which takes place in October 2025, will comprise a 4-day event with film screenings and an educational film programme, an annual outreach programme, collaborations with festivals and events, all informed by the youth voice. 

GENERATION Fleadh is dedicated to amplifying the voices, ideas, and experiences of young people through film. As a member of the Council, you will work closely with the Fleadh team and industry professionals to help curate and deliver a vibrant, relevant, and engaging programme for young audiences aged 12 – 24. 

What’s Involved: 

• Council Meetings (August – November):  Share your ideas and provide feedback on festival development, planning, and programming. 

• Programming Input: Watch short film submissions with guidance from industry professionals and help shape the final programme. 

• Festival Participation: Introduce screenings, take part in Q&As, and support festival events and workshops. 

• GENERATION Film Club: Participate in the GENERATION Fleadh Film Club, powered by the European Film Academy. 

• Professional Development: Connect with peers and film industry figures, gaining insight, experience, and valuable networks. 

• Make an Impact: Ensure that the youth programme speaks authentically to a new generation of film lovers and storytellers. 

Eligibility 

To apply for the 2025 GENERATION Council, you must meet the following criteria: 

• Applicants must be between 12 and 24 years old to participate. 

• If selected, applicants under 18 must have permission and support from a parent/guardian. 

• You must be available for key dates and meeting times. 

• Council members are expected to actively participate in meetings, film reviews, and festival events. 

• No experience is necessary, but a genuine interest in film, storytelling and the arts is encouraged.
