The 2024 GENERATION Fleadh takes place from 23 – 26th October 2024.

Bringing film culture to young people across Galway City and County, GENERATION Fleadh comprises a 4-day event with film screenings and an educational film programme in October, an annual outreach programme in Galway City and County, collaborations with festivals and events including the European Film Academy (EFA), all informed by the youth voice through the GENERATION Fleadh Council and Youth review panels.

The aim of GENERATION Fleadh is to promote film culture to young people, providing a platform for them to meet like-minded people, celebrating film culture in Galway. The GENERATION Fleadh Council engages with the GENERATION Fleadh team to ensure all aspects of programming remain relevant to young adults interested in film culture.

Testimonials:

Ailbhe Fearon

Generation Jury Member 2024

As a student filmmaker there is so much to learn from film that you can’t read in a textbook. Spending this week with my peers discussing and dissecting films I never would’ve seen otherwise was a wonderful experience. There is an electric excitement that comes with Galway Film Fleadh, and I’ve left it feeling more in love with cinema than before.

Rua McKree

Generation Ambassador 2023

Being involved with Generation Fleadh as a Generation Ambassador in 2023 was one of the highlights of my year: the role empowered me to explore my passion for film by presenting opportunities for me to engage with famous actors, film industry professionals, and my peers.  As a youth member of this Galway artistic community made up of people with similar passions and curiosities as my own, I made friends and connections that encouraged me to be creative, ask questions, and stay involved.  Thank you to Generation Fleadh and Galway Film Fleadh for helping to spark my passion for storytelling through film!
