OPENING NIGHT!

We are thrilled to bring you a special preview screening of Anton Corbijn’s literary noir, A TALENT FOR MURDER, a gleefully dark thriller which pits notoriously reclusive author Patricia Highsmith against a young literary executive in a playful cat-and-mouse thriller, paying homage to Highsmith’s ageless crime thrillers such as The Talented Mr Ripley and Strangers on a Train. Starring Helen Mirren and Alden Ehrenreich and based on the play, Switzerland, this is a treat on the big screen, especially swathed in the luscious cinematography of Ireland’s very own Robbie Ryan.

As an added bonus, we’re also screening Anthony Minghella’s THE TALENTED MR RIPLEY, as part of our retrospective programme, making our opening night a suspense-filled night in the cinema!

PREMIERES AND FLEADH FAVES!

We’re proud to host the IRISH PREMIERE of Beth de Araujo’s Sundance-winner, JOSEPHINE on Friday 6th November, which stars Channing Tatum and Gemma Chan as parents coping with the aftermath of their young daughter witnessing a horrific assault in their local park. This screening will be followed by a discussion about the film’s depiction of trauma with special guest, adult and adolescent psychologist, Martha McKeon Lynch.

Another IRISH PREMIERE is the utterly delightful EDIE ARNOLD IS A LOSER, a spirited punk-rock coming-of-age comedy from filmmaking duo Kade Atwood and Megan Rico. Screening for the first time, in Ireland, this is the perfect film to grab a gang of friends and celebrate friendship, music and sticking it to the man.

Closing the festival on Sunday, 8th November, is LEARNING TO BREATHE UNDER WATER, directed by Rebekah Fortune and filmed in Galway. The film won the Audience Award at the 2026 Galway Film Fleadh, marking it as a particular favourite with audiences at this year’s festival.

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with the film’s producers, Heather Higgins and Ivan McMahon, offering audiences an opportunity to hear more about the making of the film and its connection to Galway.

We’re also bringing back another Fleadh Fave, WASHED UP, impressively directed by young visionary Isabel Daly. This LGBTQIA+ fairytale romance is a heartfelt light-hearted comedy about a young woman who falls in love with a mysterious selkie.

RETROSPECTIVES

Selected by our Generation Council, our youth council of film lovers ages 17-24, our retrospectives include a broad range of films including David Lynch’s nightmarish noir MULHOLLAND DRIVE, a special 20th anniversary screening of family comedy LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE and an Irish-language screening of Cartoon Saloon’s classic animation, THE SECRET OF KELLS.

GENERATION SHORTS

Selected by our Generation Council, we have three shorts programmes this year, including Animated Shorts, Irish Shorts and Generation Shorts, a selection of both Irish and international short films. For more information, check out each individual programme.
