The history, development and vicissitudes of FERRANIA, the Italian factory that, from 1920 onwards, produced flexible and photosensitive image recording media – in more understandable terms, the dear and now defunct film. Film for cinema, photography, radiography, workers’ villages, personal and leisure services, lasting right up to the threshold of the third millennium. There was a time, where already in the aftermath of the Second World War, the ‘ferrania’ brand was synonymous with ‘Made in Italy’, as the only ‘ferraniacolor’ film produced in Europe, due to ingenuity, willpower, and a pinch of luck in not being among the factories destroyed. A story within the story of a worker, Achille Schinca, who worked there for over 35 years.
