Recently premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, Palestinian filmmaker Rakan Mayasi makes his feature film debut with Yesterday the Eye Didn’t Sleep. In a Bedouin village on the Lebanon-Syria border, an accidental death sparks a blood feud between two rival clans, leading to two spirited sisters being traded into marriage for peace. Will their sacrifice be enough – and can they actually find it within themselves to enter this new life?
