Spanning the dawn of cinema to the present day, The Story of Documentary Film offers a rich history – told in a fresh and dynamic way. Drawing on Mark Cousins’ three decades of research into documentary, the series will re-examine classics and explore how the genre has evolved over the course of a century. Here we present the first episode of the series, focusing on early documentaries, including Robert J. Flaherty’s seminal work Man of Aran, shot on the Aran Islands.
