In partnership with National Talent Academies Crew West, Galway Film Fair is delighted to bring acclaimed Production Designer Charles Wood to Galway Film Fleadh for what promises to be a fascinating deep dive into the craft of production design. 

Charles Wood is one of the world’s leading Production Designers, best known for his work on major international film productions including Project Hail Mary, Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Doctor Strange, Thor: The Dark World and The Acolyte. Over a career spanning more than three decades, Charles has helped create some of cinema’s most iconic and visually ambitious worlds, working closely with directors, producers and creative teams from initial concept through to final delivery. Renowned for his ability to blend artistic vision with practical filmmaking, he has led large Art Departments across a wide range of genres and scales, establishing himself as one of the industry’s most respected voices in production design. 

Charles will take participants through how he approaches a film project from start to finish – working with directors and producers, research, concept art, studio presentations, physical and 3D models, set design, construction drawings, and the realities of collaborating with every department across a production. 

Whether you’re already working in the Art Department, looking to move into production design, or simply curious about how the worlds we see on screen are created, this is a unique opportunity to learn from one of the industry’s leading practitioners.
