Junior Film Fleadh
Details on this year’s Junior Film Fleadh, now known as Generation Fleadh will be coming very soon, stay tuned…
The Junior Galway Film Fleadh an innovative film festival curated specifically for young people aged 12 – 25 taking place annually in November.
Screenings include an extensive programme of films (Irish, French, German, Spanish), animations and documentaries alongside short films made by young people for young people and Career Panels Talks in association with Screen Ireland/Animation Ireland. An outreach programme takes cinema to the classroom and youth organisations in Galway City and County.
Additionally, the festival hosts workshops (both during the festival and at times throughout the year) led by industry professionals in various aspects of filmmaking.
Through our Youth Council (made up of young adults attending secondary school in Galway) the festival works to ensure all aspects of programming remain relevant to younger audiences.
We offer young adults the opportunity to take part as follows:
- Generation Jury – (July – part of Galway Film Fleadh) age 16-18 years
- 27xCinema (September part of Venice Film Festival Jury) age 18-25
- European Film Academy Young Audience Award Jury (November) age 12-14 years
The festival also partners with YIFM network to offer free workshops to young people, schools and groups in Galway who may not otherwise be able to avail of the opportunity. Additionally, the festival works with Tribes Arts Festival for Young People in October to programme their French film.
