Short Film Submissions for 2026 GENERATION Fleadh are now open.
GENERATION Fleadh is the youth branch of the Galway Film Fleadh for people aged 12 – 24 taking place in October 2026.
GENERATION Fleadh consists of three short film programmes:
- Gearrscannáin: Dedicated to screening new Irish language short films.
- GENERATION Shorts: Showcasing the best films created by young people and curated by young people.
- World Shorts: Showcasing films from young people or about young people from around the globe
Please read the rules and regulations before submitting your film.
If you have made a film as part of a Foróige group, youth group, school, university, film club, etc., we would especially love to hear from you. If you are 24+ and submitting a film, please remember if selected your film will be shown to a youth audience, so please make sure the content is suitable for this level. Films in the Irish language are especially welcome.
The deadline to submit your short film is Monday, 14 September 2026 at 17:00 G.M.T.
Short Film Submissions Rules & Regulations:

- Your short film must be under 15 minutes or less for consideration.
- There is no submission fee, it is FREE to submit.
- We welcome films in all languages. Submissions and screeners of non-English language films must contain English subtitles.
- Any film that has been previously broadcast (television or online video-on-demand, including YouTube) in Ireland or screened at another festival shall have less priority in programming terms than those that will premiere at the festival.
- Please provide a valid private Vimeo/YouTube link with a password to submit your film. *Please ensure, if providing a link, that it does not expire until the end of September 2026. We do not accept Google Drive or Dropbox links as submission links.
- If selected, you will be informed of the latest date at which content must be delivered to the festival.
- In submitting to Galway Film Fleadh, the Festival may occasionally contact you about relevant industry events and updates.
- Due to the volume of submissions, the festival is not able to provide feedback.
- An Irish production/co-production is defined as a production that features an Irish resident/born director, producer, lead animator or writer OR a production shot on the island of Ireland
- You may select one category only for each film submitted.
- The final deadline for submission material(s) is on or before September 14th 2026 at 5p.m GMT.
- The festival is not obliged to view late entries. But request can be made to generation@filmfleadh.ie if you wish to enter late.
