Childminding Service at the Galway Film Fair
The booking system is open from 19th June and closes on 26th June at 2pm.
Overview:
Raising Films Ireland, in partnership with the National Talent Academies Crew West, is excited to introduce a pilot Childminding Service at the Galway Film Fair 2026. As a pilot scheme, the service will be fully funded but limited. As such, we can offer an on-site service in the Galmont Hotel for up to 8 children under the age of 6 and a limited number of places in a local summer camp for children ages 5-12.

The service for under 6’s will be offered Thursday 9th, Friday 10th, Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th (half day) July 2026 and childminding will take place in a dedicated room in the Galmont Hotel. We will operate the booking system on a request basis – your slot will not be confirmed until you receive communication from us. You may request as many slots as you need. Please note the booking system will close on Fri 26th June at 2pm.
The summer camp will operate Mon-Fri and you may attend any or all of those days. If you require care for over 6’s on Sat and Sun please get in touch.
This initiative is part of our shared commitment to building a more inclusive, sustainable, and accessible screen industry in Ireland. We recognise the barriers parents and guardians face when participating in industry events and festivals, and this service aims to support their equal involvement in the creative community.
Who It Is For:
Industry professionals attending the Galway Film Fair in the Galmont Hotel who require short term, flexible childcare.
Industry professionals with children between 9 months and 12 years.
Support Offered:
Short-Term Childminding: Flexible childminding options in the Galmont Hotel during key festival hours to support attendance at panels, meetings, and events for ages 9 months – 6 years
Qualified Professionals: Childminding provided by trained, vetted childminders in a safe and stimulating environment.
Central Location: Childminding space located conveniently in the Galmont Hotel – please note parents/guardians will be required to be reachable/contactable for the duration of the service.
Older Children – For those age 5-12 we are offering a place Kingfisher Summer Camp at NUIG subject to availability. The camp will run Monday – Friday and you may attend any or all of these days. Please email childcareraisingfilmsireland@gmail.com for more information and booking.
Free service: As a pilot programme, we will be offering this limited service free of charge on a first come first served basis.
Aims of the Initiative:
Accessibility: To reduce childcare-related barriers to participation in the Galway FIlm Fair for parents and guardians working or engaging with the screen industry.
Inclusivity: To create a welcoming and supportive environment that recognises parents’ and guardians’ caring responsibilities, and to raise awareness around balancing life and work.
Wellbeing & Sustainability: To contribute to a healthier, more balanced industry by supporting professionals with caring responsibilities, helping to retain talent across all levels of the sector.
Important Notes:
Food must be provided by the Parents/Guardians.
Nappies/wipes etc must be provided by the Parents/Guardians.
Parents/Guardians must remain contactable at all times and within close proximity and easy reach of their child(ren).
Buggy/travel cot must be provided if your child requires a nap or walk during the day. Please note: We have a separate bedroom in the Galmont Hotel where naps can be taken if required.
Drop off and pick up times must be adhered to; we cannot facilitate last minute changes to schedules.
Service will be provided 9.30am-6pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday and 9.30am-2pm on Sunday

If you require babysitting outside of these hours please consult the Family Guide to Galway for options. Please note we cannot book babysitters for you outside of these hours. Babysitting will be at a cost to the parents/guardians. It is your responsibility to organise and pay for babysitting if you require childcare outside these hours.
Participant Profile:
The Childminding service is aimed at industry professionals who are attending Galway Film Fair events in the Galmont Hotel and need short term flexible childcare on-site for children aged between 9 months and 12 years.

Selection Process:
The booking system will operate on a request basis for the on-site childminding in the Galmont. Once you have requested the slots you need, we will confirm your allocation of slots via email, once the booking system has closed. Your place will not be guaranteed until you receive this email.
