Feature film submissions are now open for the 34th Galway Film Fleadh, taking place from 5th – 10th July, 2022.

After two years of pivoting to new and different formats to safely stage their event for filmmakers and film lovers (online in 2020, then outdoors in 2021) the Fleadh is planning a triumphant return to the festival cinematic experience in July 2022. Filmmakers or companies with works-in-progress, or completed works ready to debut in the new year, are encouraged to begin the submission process early.

The Galway Film Fleadh awards Irish and international films selected for competition in the following categories:

  • Peripheral Visions Award (for 1st or 2nd feature)
  • Best Irish Film
  • Best Documentary
  • Best First Irish Feature
  • Best Human Rights Film
  • Galway Young Audience Award

There are also individual awards including:

  • Galway Hooker Award for Outstanding Achievement
  • Bingham Ray New Talent Award
  • Award for Best Cinematography in an Irish Film

Winners in recent years include Here Before, Foscadh, Pure Grit, Redemption of a Rogue, Breaking Out, Extra Ordinary, For Sama, A Bump Along the Way and The Dig among many others.

Early bird deadline: Friday December 10th, 2021 at 5p.m. G.M.T.

Early Bird entry fees are at a discounted rate of €30.

After the Early Bird Deadline, the fee will increase to the Regular price of €40.

Regular deadline: Friday February 18th, 2022 at 5p.m. G.M.T.

There will be a late deadline of Monday March 14th, 2022, the fee for which is €50.
