TRAVEL POLICY
Galway Film Fleadh, including Film Fair and Generation Fleadh, is committed to reducing the environmental impact of travel associated with the festival while maintaining accessibility, international collaboration and operational efficiency.
Before making a journey, we encourage all staff, partners, suppliers and invited guests to consider the following:
- If the distance is reasonable, walking or cycling should be prioritised.
- Public transport such as train or bus should be the preferred option whenever practical.
- Shared transport and carpooling are encouraged where public transport is not available or suitable.
- Taxi travel should be limited to situations where no reasonable alternative exists.
- For domestic travel within Ireland, rail and coach travel should be prioritised over flights whenever possible.
- Flights should only be considered when travel distances or schedules make lower-emission alternatives unreasonable, particularly for international travel.
- When flights are necessary, direct flights and economy class should be chosen whenever possible in order to reduce emissions.
- Accommodation should, where practical, be selected close to festival venues to minimise additional transportation during the event.
Galway Film Fleadh encourages all collaborators and participants to contribute to more sustainable travel choices and to support the festival’s wider sustainability ambitions.
