Rooted in joy and creativity, Comparsa is a powerful documentary about sisterhood, healing, and the transformative power of art. After 41 girls are killed in a state-run “safe home” and the government fails to act, sisters Lesli and Lupe organise a comparsa – an exuberant street performance with giant puppets, fire-breathing stilt walkers and drums. Through courageous personal testimony and community care, their youth movement takes to the streets, challenging corruption, and reclaiming public space for women and girls.
