From debut director Soleen Yusef, WINNERS follows Mona, a Syrian refugee, flees with her Kurdish family to Berlin. The city is foreign to her, but what the eleven-year-old finds strangest is her new school in the rebellious district of Wedding, where anarchy reigns. When a football tournament is announced, her teacher, Mr. Che, notices her talent for football. Mona gradually finds her place in the team and her new life. The underdogs from Wedding get the chance to show Berlin who plays the best school football in the city- and for the first time, get a taste of what it would feel like to be a winner.
