“A robust comedy for discerning pallets, The Duel of Wine features sommeliers, winemakers, and chefs from Italy, Rioja Alavesa, the Basque Country, Champagne, Bordeaux, Mendoza and more.”
World famous sommelier Charlie Arturaola fell from grace after starring in a previous film. The character he played in the film, a “sommelier that has lost his sense of taste,” became inseparable from Charlie’s real-life persona, and he ended up losing his career. His wife, Pandora, finds him a way back into the wine tasting world – working for some important European bodegas – but he must work behind the scenes as a “ghost taster” for a young and ambitious sommelier, Antonio Poncelis. When they are called to participate in the 200-bottle Great Wine Duel, a kind of Euro 2016 for wine tasters, Charlie is frustrated to be another man’s ghost-taster and must go on a journey, both physically (through Old World wine country) and emotionally, as he fights to regain his lost fame and status.
Charlie Arturaola and producer Lino Pujia will be on hand to introduce new wines during this unique synaesthetic experience.
