“As lovingly assembled as its titular hand-crafted altars, and as strikingly detailed as its stunning Peruvian Andes backdrop.” — Screen Daily
High on a remote mountainside of Peru, 14-year-old Segundo is being groomed to follow his father’s footsteps in the traditional folk art of making retablo – crafting intricate, artisan story boxes depicting religious scenes everyday events. Segundo is becoming restless, realising that the weight of the family legacy will keep him on the mountain forever. Segundo will come to face the raw reality of this deeply religious and conservative landscape, as well as a more profound connection with his father than he’d ever imagined.
