“As pop as it is arthouse, as funny as it is tragic, Donnie Darko remains a remarkable one-off that’s easy to adore.”

— The Skinny

The defining midnight movie of the 21st century, Richard Kelly’s down-the-rabbit-hole mind-bender is a journey through space and time firmly set in a Virginia suburb during the lead-up to the 1988 presidential election. Featuring Jake Gyllenhaal as a gloomy teenaged outcast who finds himself under the influence of a six-foot-tall rabbit which encourages him to ever-bolder acts of vandalism in preparation for the end of the world. Lushly swathed in period tunes and featuring – in the form of  Patrick Swayze – an impeccable period performer.
