Sunday is ‘Animation Afternoon’ at the 30th Galway Film Fleadh.
On Sunday, we kick off with at 10:00 with a programme of shorts celebrating the creative cornerstone of Irish film, the animation industry. This programme features an abundance of themes and styles and includes work from established directors and the very best from the countries recent graduates from IADT, LIT and CDCFE.
After this we welcome the audience to join us at our retrospective screening of some of our festivals award winning animation shorts from the last 30 years, starting with our oldest film from 1991, Adestes Fideles by Cashel Horgan. This screening will take in the Black Gate Cultural Centre from 1pm – 6pm.
Not only screening amazing shorts from the past we are also looking to the future and welcome the first screening of a Virtual Reality short Animation with – AURORA –  created by Aoife Doyle and Niamh Herrity of PINK KONG. This visually rich cinematic animated VR short follows the lives of a young family and all who inhabit it’s vividly coloured landscape. AURORA will be open to the public from 12PM at the Black Gate Cultural Centre.
We are delighted present a fantastic networking opportunity, by hosting a Women in Animation and Animation Ireland as they join forces to host a meet-and-mingle brunch as part of the Galway Film Fleadh’s Animation Afternoon. Come swap cards, share ideas, and make plans with your comrades in animation, from 12pm – 1.30pm.
