Galway Film Fleadh’s annual masterclasses provide aspiring professionals and industry enthusiasts with a unique opportunity to learn from esteemed experts in their respective fields. This year, the Galway Film Fair proudly presents masterclasses in Acting and Screenwriting, featuring renowned talents who will share their valuable insights and expertise.

Join BAFTA-nominated writer-director Carol Morley on Saturday, July 15th, for a captivating Writer’s Masterclass. Morley’s remarkable filmography includes the gripping noir Out of Blue (2018), the intriguing drama The Falling (2014), and thought-provoking documentaries Dreams of a Life (2011) and The Alcohol Years (2000). Morley’s latest feature film, Typist Artist Pirate King (2022), delves into the fascinating real-life story of artist Audrey Amiss through a captivating road trip narrative. With an exceptional cast featuring Monica Dolan, Kelly MacDonald, and Gina McKee, and executive producer Jane Campion, the film promises a compelling cinematic experience. Don’t miss the Irish Premiere of Typist Artist Pirate King, on July 15th at 5:30pm in Pálás Cinema.

Presented in collaboration with Screen Ireland, the Writers Masterclass will be facilitated by award-winning writer and story consultant Mary Kate O Flanagan. The masterclass will take place on July 15th from 10am to 1pm at The Galmont Hotel – Tickets €25.

On July 15th, join acclaimed actor Matthew Modine for an inspiring Actor Masterclass. Known for his iconic role in Stanley Kubrick’s Academy Award-nominated film, Full Metal Jacket (1987) and his appearance in the hit series Stranger Things, Modine’s impressive filmography includes The Dark Knight Rises (2012) and Birdy (1984). Matthew Modine will attend this year’s Galway Film Fleadh for the World Premiere of his upcoming film, The Martini Shot which takes place on July 13th at 9:30pm in Town Hall Theatre. This existential drama follows Modine, as an ailing movie director as he begins to shoot what he believes to be his final work of art. Filmed in Ireland and directed by Stephen Wallis, this film has an abundantly rich cast including, John Cleese, Derek Jacobi, Stuart Townsend and Fiona Glascott.
