Galway Film Fleadh – Frequently Asked Questions

Can I watch from anywhere in the world?

Films are only available to stream in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Our Talks, Panels, Q +A’s and other events are accessible world-wide to those who register. Registration is via our website.

I’m in the Republic of Ireland /  Northern Ireland, how do I buy a ticket?

Create an Account on our online streaming festival site. Once logged in, you can buy your ticket for films and all of your tickets are viewable in your Library.

I can’t buy a ticket, help!

If a film you are trying to purchase in Ireland / N.Ireland is showing as ‘unavailable’, please email tickets@filmfleadh.ie.

If you’re looking at a short film and it is ‘Not Available’ it is because it comes as part of a shorts programme and you must Rent from the shorts programme page.

I bought my ticket, now what?

It’s official! You’re attending this year’s Galway Film Fleadh! The films that you have secured screening of will become available in your Library from Premiere date & time for a limited period during the Galway Film Fleadh 7th-12th July. Check each film’s availability and details on our site. Join in the conversation online #FilmFleadh and keep an eye out for more exciting updates.

How can I view the programme?

You can view our programme right here online. More details re: our talks, panels and other events next week.

Can I book a season ticket?

Yes! You can buy tickets individually for films or purchase our Season ticket / Festival pass which will give you access to all films.

What film will I watch next?

If you’ve just finished a film you enjoyed, scroll down to the bottom of the film page and see what films are listed under ‘You may also like’. Also have a look at our Festival Schedule and see which films are screening next.

Where are the Q + As?

Q + As are on our website and our social media after the screening of films. If you would like to watch at a later time, the live stream saves on social media and you will also find it on our Fleadh Live Archive page.

How do I find an industry event?

Industry events and details are available through our Industry page. Panels and talks details have been announced and will all take place online during this year’s Fleadh 7th-12th July.

FAQs – Film Technicalities

What do I need to watch the Fleadh online?

You can watch on PCs running Windows 7+, Intel-based Macs running macOS10.12+. You can also watch on Android tablets and phones using Chrome, and iPhone and iPad using Safari. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection – dial up will not work. You’ll find a complete list of requirements below.

What are the requirements for Windows computers?

Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 10. Google Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Internet Explorer or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. Internet Explorer on Windows 7 is no longer supported. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection – dial up will not work.

What are the requirements for Mac computers?

MacOS 10.12 or later. Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Opera. We recommend using the latest version of your browser as earlier versions may not be supported. You will need a broadband or fibre internet connection – dial up will not work.

Can I watch content on my iPhone/iPad?

Yes, you can watch content using Safari on iOS devices.

Can I watch content on my Android Device?

Yes, you can watch content using Chrome on Android devices.

I can’t stream any of the content, what’s going on?

Check your minimum system requirements above. We recommend that you update to the latest version of your browser. We use adaptive bitrate streaming which means the streaming quality will automatically adjust based on your internet speed. For High Definition (HD) streaming we recommend VDSL, cable or fibre connections as we cannot guarantee consistent HD streaming on ADSL.

What happens if I forget my password?

Simply click Forgot your password on the Sign In page, enter the email address you used when you created an account and a link to reset your password will be sent to you.

Why does video playback stall or not play smoothly?

If your internet connection is poor or inconsistent you may experience problems during playback.

What devices can I Chromecast from?

You can Chromecast content when using the Chrome web browser on Android based mobile devices and Windows or MacOS based computers. You can also Chromecast on iPhone and iPad from our app which is free to download from the apple app store.

What happens after I buy my ticket?

After you buy your ticket for a film, it is added to your Library (Click your name in the top right corner and choose ‘My Library’ to view) The film will become available to watch from your library at premiere time and date of that film. Click in and enjoy!

Why can’t I see my event?

Once you buy your ticket for a film – it’s added to your Library. Be sure that you’ve purchased tickets for all the films you’d like to watch as once they’re sold out they will no longer be available.

Films become available to watch from their Premiere time during the Galway Film Fleadh. Please note that there is a 30 or 24 hour window in which the film will be available to play. You can access films by logging into your account on our site.

How do I play my shorts programme?

When you go to the page for the shorts progamme, you can scroll down to underneath the word ‘Included’ and you can click each play button for each film here: Or if you press ‘Play Now’ the intro to the programme will play and you click in the top right corner (3 lines, 3 dots) as in the image below, which give you the options to press play on the films:
