Young actor and member of our Junior Film Fleadh Youth Council, Ely Solan, can be seen starring as the young Charles Dickens in the holiday film, The Man Who Invented Christmas.
The Man Who Invented Christmas is a comedy drama telling the journey that led to Charles Dickens’ creation of “A Christmas Carol.” Dickens, at a low point in his career, decides to write a Christmas story and self-publish it in less than two months. Still haunted by painful memories of his father ruining his childhood by his financial irresponsibly, Dickens develops a writer’s block which seems to have no solution. Dickens must face his personal demons epitomized through his characters, especially in his imagined conversations with Ebenezer Scrooge.
Ely Solan, who stars as the young Dickens in flashbacks of the character’s childhood, is also a member of the Junior Film Fleadh youth council, a panel of young film fans of different ages, schools and backgrounds. The Junior Film Fleadh youth council ensures that the many workshops and screenings that take place during the festival are of interest to our young audiences.
