There is an urban legend about a mysterious videotape. After you watch it, you receive an anonymous telephone call and thereafter you have one week left to live. Journalist Reiko Asakawa is doing a piece on the myth’s popularity when teenagers’ deaths start being reported around the city; amongst them her niece Tomoko. Reiko follows her only lead to a cabin where she finds a disturbing videotape. When Reiko is done watching it, the phone rings... This is the original, and the best entry, in the Japanese horror phenomenon. If you’ve only seen the re-make, come check out the film that inspired a chilling franchise.
