By air

Shannon Airport (85km/53 miles) and Knock Airport (89km/56 miles) are the closest airports to Galway. Both handle UK and European arrivals, while Shannon also handles some transatlantic traffic.

Trains to Galway from Dublin are frequent with a regular train service from Heuston Station to Ceannt Station, which is located in the city centre just off Eyre Square.

It is also possible to get trains from Cork and Belfast, but you will have to change. It is not possible to get a train from Shannon Airport, but you can get a bus to Limerick city and get a train from there.
